Anyone who owns a leasehold property has a statutory right to extend their lease, subject to qualifying criteria (and the payment of a premium) under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and urban Development Act 1993 (as amended).
We can assess whether it is possible for you to extend your lease and we will consider:
- The qualifying criteria
- Any critical dates
- Identity and address of competent Landlord
- The premium payable (as assessed by a specialist valuer)
We will also consider with you, whether the terms of the lease should be revised, and consider the overall costs implications for you. We can then advise on how to go about effecting the extension, be it by agreement with your landlord, or by invoking the statutory procedure. In either instance we will guide you through the process.
